ACTIVITIES

Experience Jorhat, PBF style!

With the farm well designed for a relaxed "laahe laahe" life, most of our guests end up coming here and having the best time doing pretty much nothing as they laze around the farm just being in nature. However, it's always nice to know all the options that you as a guest here have in terms of things to do in and around the farm, especially when planning a longer stay. Following are some activities that we have handpicked and put together to help you have a memorable stay while in Jorhat. You can choose to organise some of them yourself or we would be more than happy taking care of everything (we have our own subtle additions) while you enjoy your holiday hassle free-

Farm Experiences

Cycling in the
Tea Gardens

One of the best ways to experience a tea garden is on two wheels. For generations, field managers around estates have been using bikes which give them a much wider view from a height so as to spot pest attacks and problems from a distance. A cycle is a perfect way to explore the locality and take in some fresh tea garden air.

Bonfire and
Barbeque nights

Winters are for bonfires and star gazing. Upon request, we would be happy to organise a barbeque night for you. We can set it up for you to handle yourself (we love tasting new recipes) or if you like, you can sit back and enjoy the fire while our team puts together a hassle free barbeque night for you.

A brief history of tea and tasting session

Tea is the second most popular drink in the world, just after water. Where best to learn more about that journey than in an estate located in a region producing the world's best teas? Our tea talk is a 30 minute session giving you an insight into the industry and all that goes into a cup of Assam tea.

Take a
Farm Walk

Here at Puroni Bheti, we grow over 200 varieties of plants- including a wide variety of bamboo, native trees, herbs, medicinal plants, fruits and flowers. All of these have been passionately planted and cared for by the family for decades. A farm walk with the hosts can prove to be quite the learning experience for those interested in nature and it's offerings.

Fishing in our Pukhuri

Watch time fly as you quietly battle the fish living in our pond. For the enthusiasts, we can even set up a small fire by the pond to roast your catch to go with your beer.

Make your own hand-rolled tea

Imagine visiting a tea garden in the best tea producing region in the world, plucking your own leaves, hand rolling and then drying them to take back for your family and friends (we completely understand if you don't want to share)! Sounding good? Make it here during the harvesting season and we can assure you, you'll smile to the memory every time you drink a cup of tea.

Day Excursions

Day Excursions

Majuli

From our farm, the world's largest river island, Majuli, is only 30 minutes a drive and a boat ride away. Sail across the mighty Brahmaputra to experience a plethora of tribal and Neo Vaishnavite culture. From traditional bamboo architecture and natural hand made masks used in cultural theatre to museums with royal artefacts, Majuli has quite a bit to offer.

Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary

Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is home to the only apes found in India, the Hoolock Gibbons. Step out early morning for a beautiful walk through a forest well on its way to becoming a rainforest. The sanctuary is a 45 minute drive away from the farm.

Molai Forest

Get a chance to meet Jadav Payeng, the forest man of India on his home ground, the Molai forest. Reaching the forest consists of a thirty minute drive, a boat ride and then finally a short hike to his camp.

Kaziranga and Biodiversity Park

A day trip covering a hike to the Kakochang falls, a spread of an Assamese meal and finally a Jeep Safari in Kaziranga National park.

Jorhat Gymkhana Club

As members of the club which also happens to be the third oldest golf course in the world, we would be delighted to take you with us to visit the aged establishment for a drink or a round of golf as long as you let us know in prior and we can plan the same.

Food Exploration

If you are a traveller who loves exploring food wherever you visit, we might just be able to give you a feast of a day in Jorhat. With a mix of food cooked at home and from local eateries (including street food), we'll make sure we keep you well fed.
